Google Launches Vibe Coding Course to Help Anyone Build AI-Powered Apps

Google has launched a new vibe coding course as part of its Google AI Professional Certificate to teach people with little or no coding experience how to build functional applications using natural-language instructions and AI.

The course is designed around Google's AI Studio, where learners can describe what they want to build and use AI to turn those instructions into working web applications. Google said the programme focuses on practical, hands-on learning rather than traditional coding theory.

"Google's official course in vibe coding just went live. Describe the app you want, and you build it with AI. Exactly the thing you've been waiting for," Neil Hoyne, Google Chief Strategist, said.

The AI for App Building course teaches participants how to identify repetitive tasks that could be automated, translate plain-language instructions into applications and use AI to diagnose and fix technical problems.

A follow-up AI for App Deployment course covers troubleshooting, refining applications, adding user instructions and managing access so the resulting tools can be shared safely.

The broader certificate includes more than 20 hands-on activities covering AI fundamentals, brainstorming, research, writing, content creation, data analysis and application development.

Learners can also build a portfolio of AI projects while gaining experience with Google's AI tools, including Gemini, Gemini Canvas, Gemini Deep Research, Gemini Notebook and Gemini in Google Workspace.

Google said the programme requires no previous AI experience and was designed to help workers apply AI to real workplace tasks. The company developed the curriculum with input from the Burning Glass Institute and a group of major US employers to identify skills increasingly demanded in the workplace.

The programme also comes with three months of Google AI Pro at no cost, giving learners access to advanced Gemini features, Flow, Gemini Notebook, AI assistance in Gmail and Docs, and 2TB of cloud storage, subject to the programme's terms.

Google is offering the certificate through Coursera, Google Skills and Udemy, with pricing varying by market.
