Stack Overflow Wants to Turn Enterprise Knowledge Into a Trust Layer for AI Agents
The latest version expands how organisations can capture, verify and distribute internal knowledge.
Stack Overflow is evolving its enterprise knowledge platform, Stack Internal, as companies increasingly deploy AI agents that do more than answer questions and begin taking actions on their behalf.
The company argues that simply giving agents access to more information is no longer enough, particularly when critical context is scattered across documents, conversations, applications and internal tools.

The latest version expands how organisations can capture, verify and distribute internal knowledge. A new ingestion API allows companies to bring information from additional sources, while connectors for Microsoft Teams, Slack and Google Docs allow organisations to ingest content while respecting existing permissions.
"We built the new iteration of our platform with one major problem in mind: AI tools in your tech stack are making bad decisions based on out of date information. Giving AI agents access to more content doesn't solve this - providing them with trusted knowledge does," Prashanth Chandrasekar, Stack Overflow CEO, said.
Stack Internal is designed to turn fragmented enterprise content into what Stack Overflow calls “decision-grade knowledge” by combining context with signals such as provenance, recency, expertise, corroboration and human validation. Rather than judging information primarily by relevance, the platform helps people and AI agents determine where knowledge came from, whether it remains current and whether it has been verified by the right people.
“Enterprise AI doesn’t need access to more information, people and agents need verified knowledge they can confidently trust. Stack Internal curates technical knowledge inside the enterprise by preserving critical context, validating it with the right experts, and delivering it where work happens,” said Jody Bailey, Stack Overflow Chief Product and Technology Officer.
The platform also introduces a trust score for AI agents, helping them determine which information to rely on and when additional human review may be required. Its MCP Server can deliver verified organisational knowledge to compatible AI tools, including Claude and Codex.
Another feature automatically identifies subject-matter experts who can validate information when knowledge gaps or conflicts emerge. Experts can respond directly through Slack, while administrators can oversee validation requests through Stack Internal.
Stack Overflow is also adding enterprise governance features, including custom roles and permissions, activity tracking, exportable audit trails and dashboards covering knowledge quality and usage.
Stack Internal is now generally available, with a free Starter workspace allowing users to connect up to three knowledge sources.
