Observability company New Relic has announced the integration of its Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server with Kiro, Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) AI-native agentic development environment.

The integration will bring real-time observability insights into AI-driven coding workflows, helping developers improve code quality, increase productivity, and reduce the time needed to resolve performance issues.

As enterprises accelerate AI adoption across their operations, agentic coding tools are becoming an important part of software development. However, without access to real-time production data, AI agents often lack the operational context needed to make effective decisions.

The New Relic integration with Kiro addresses this challenge by enabling engineers to access live metrics, events, logs, and traces through natural language within Kiro’s spec-driven workflow.

The integration allows developers, DevOps teams, and site reliability engineers to validate code performance against technical requirements by accessing New Relic’s full-stack telemetry directly within Kiro.

By connecting observability data with AI-assisted development, teams can identify root causes faster and implement targeted fixes for performance issues.

New Relic said the integration also simplifies deployment through one-click implementation, allowing engineering teams to quickly access observability capabilities without complex configuration.

The announcement follows New Relic surpassing $1 billion in lifetime transactions through AWS Marketplace, highlighting the growing adoption of its observability solutions among cloud customers. The companies have expanded their partnership from infrastructure monitoring to Intelligent Observability, including AI-driven workflows and automated remediation capabilities.

Earlier this month, New Relic announced the development of a new open-source capability called New Relic AI Coding Observability, designed to help engineering teams monitor, govern and optimise AI-assisted software development.
