Lupin Appoints Shubham Bansal as Global Chief AI and Data Officer

Pharmaceutical company Lupin has appointed Shubham Bansal as its Global Chief AI and Data Officer (CAIDO), as the company looks to build AI and data capabilities across its global operations.

Bansal announced the appointment on LinkedIn, saying his role will involve developing AI and data as enterprise capabilities across Lupin’s commercial, manufacturing, supply chain, quality and R&D functions.

To work across commercial, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, R&D and other parts of the enterprise. To build strong foundations and translate data and AI into tangible business outcomes.And to do so in an industry where technology can contribute to something far larger than efficiency alone,” Bansal said.

Before joining Lupin, Bansal served as Head of Artificial Intelligence at Mahindra and Mahindra from July 2025 to August 2026, where he led the group’s enterprise-wide AI strategy. His responsibilities included setting up an AI operating model, developing a pipeline from AI ideas to production and working with technology, security and data teams on governance, privacy and compliance.

Prior to Mahindra, Bansal was Deputy National Lead at Bajaj Finserv, where he headed AI, data science and marketing for its rural business. During his tenure, he worked on an AI-enabled voice ecosystem that handled more than 2 million calls per day and supported ₹6,600 crore in disbursals, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Bansal has also held analytics and data roles at CRED, Paytm, Kabbage and Citi. Earlier in his career, he worked at TCS and co-founded Singapore-based Percipient.
