Anthropic has appointed Rajat Pandit to lead its Applied AI efforts in India, bringing in a technology executive with nearly two decades of experience spanning cloud infrastructure, enterprise AI and software engineering.

Pandit announced the move on LinkedIn, saying his focus would be on applying his experience in scaling cloud and AI infrastructure to how enterprises and institutions in India adopt and use AI.

Pandit joins Anthropic after nearly eight years at Google, where he most recently served as Head of AI Infrastructure for APAC. In that role, he was responsible for the go-to-market strategy and adoption of Google Cloud’s AI infrastructure portfolio across Asia-Pacific, including TPUs, GPUs, Google Kubernetes Engine and Gemini Code Assist.

Before taking the APAC role, Pandit spent more than four years as Head of Customer Engineering for India, where he led teams working with enterprise customers on cloud and AI adoption. He also served as Google Cloud India’s technology go-to-market lead for generative AI and Web3.

His earlier career includes senior technology roles at Tesco, Accenture, Time Inc. UK, Yahoo and HCL Technologies. At Tesco, he led a global platform engineering and software delivery organisation supporting more than 4,000 engineers.

Recently, Anthropic appointed former Setu CEO Anand Raisinghani as its Head of Industries for India.
