Quanfluence Raises $10 Mn to Build Full-Stack Photonic Quantum Computer

Bengaluru-based deep-tech startup Quanfluence has raised $10 million in a funding round led by Chiratae Ventures, as it works to build a full-stack photonic quantum computer in India.

The company plans to use the capital to bring together its photonic chips, control electronics and software into a single quantum computing system. Quanfluence is targeting early processors by 2027, followed by larger and more scalable machines by 2029.

The platform provides an environment to simulate algorithms, error-correction methods and QPU architectures, allowing researchers to compare configurations and identify potential bottlenecks earlier.
“Our goal at Quanfluence has never been to build a better experiment. It has been to build a useful quantum computer. We chose photonics because we believe it gives us a path to scale. Over the last few years, we have built the core pieces: the ICs, the electronics, the optics and the algorithms. This funding allows us to bring those pieces together into a complete system,” said Sujoy Chakravarty, Quanfluence Co-founder and CEO.

Since its previous funding round, the startup said it has developed several components required for its architecture, including photonic integrated circuits (PICs), electronic integrated circuits (EICs), low-loss chip-to-fiber coupling designs and systems for generating quantum light states. It has also progressed on photonic chips designed for light-matter interactions.

Some of the technology has already moved beyond the laboratory. Quanfluence has productised its photonic Ising machine, while several quantum devices developed by the company are now commercially available.

Founded in 2021, Quanfluence is incubated at the IIT Madras Incubation Cell. Its founding team includes Chakravarty, Ravi Mehta, Biman Chattopadhyay, Aditi Vaidya, Prof. Anil Prabhakar of IIT Madras and Prof. Sandeep Goyal of IISER Mohali.

Pi Ventures, which led the company’s seed round in 2024, participated again, while Rainmatter by Zerodha joined as a new investor.

“What drew us to Quanfluence is a rare combination of a team that has already built and exited a semiconductor IP business, now applying that same engineering discipline to quantum optics,” said Venkatesh Peddi, Chiratae Ventures Managing Director & Partner.

Quanfluence said the latest funding will help accelerate its hardware development and strengthen its goal of building a globally relevant quantum computing company from India.
