Salesforce to Acquire Contentful to Strengthen AI-Powered Customer Experiences
Contentful, known for its headless content management architecture, allows organisations to create, manage, and distribute content across multiple platforms through a single content repository.
Salesforce has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Contentful, a leading composable content platform used by more than 4,800 global brands, to enhance its AI-powered customer engagement capabilities.
The acquisition will add an enterprise-grade content layer to Salesforce’s Headless 360 platform, enabling businesses to connect customer data, AI, and content more effectively across digital channels.
By combining Contentful’s API-first content platform with Salesforce’s Data 360 and Agentforce technologies, enterprises will be able to deliver highly personalised experiences at scale across web, mobile, email, and other customer touchpoints.
“Every meaningful customer interaction depends on three things working together: the right data, the right AI-driven content, and a modern, effortless experience. With Contentful, we complete that picture by adding a native, headless, composable content layer that lets Agentforce dynamically assemble and deliver personalised experiences across every channel, at the speed and scale the AI era demands,” said Jujhar Singh, Salesforce President, C360 Applications & Industries.
Contentful, known for its headless content management architecture, allows organisations to create, manage, and distribute content across multiple platforms through a single content repository.
Following the completion of the deal, the platform will be integrated across Salesforce Customer 360 while retaining the flexibility and composability that developers and digital teams rely on.
The companies said the combination will help businesses move beyond static, channel-specific content strategies toward dynamic content orchestration.
Agentforce will be able to access Contentful’s structured content architecture, enabling AI agents to assemble and deliver personalised experiences in real-time based on customer context, language, channel, and business requirements.
“Joining forces with Salesforce accelerates our mission of enabling modern enterprises to dynamically assemble and deliver rich digital experiences across every channel. Our API-first architecture and deep domain expertise fit perfectly into the Salesforce stack. Together, we will redefine how brands interact with customers by giving Agentforce the content layer it needs to make every interaction truly engaging,” said Karthik Rau, Contentful CEO.
The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
