Razorpay Introduces CLI That Allows AI Systems to Handle Payments Directly
The CLI enables developers, AI assistants and agentic AI systems to perform tasks such as issuing refunds, checking transactions, managing orders and accessing payment information.
Indian fintech company Razorpay has launched the Razorpay Command Line Interface (CLI), a new tool which allows developers and AI systems to manage payment operations directly from coding environments without needing to log into dashboards.
The company said the CLI enables developers, AI assistants and agentic AI systems to perform tasks such as issuing refunds, checking transactions, managing orders and accessing payment information using simple text-based commands inside developer workflows.
According to the company, the CLI integrates with AI coding platforms and agentic workflows including Anthropic’s Claude Cowork and OpenAI Codex. This allows AI agents to interact with Razorpay services directly from coding environments.
For example, developers or AI assistants can issue commands like “Show me my latest payment” or “Refund this transaction,” with the CLI securely retrieving and processing the required information.
“Businesses increasingly expect payments to work naturally inside the tools and automation systems they already use every day. With Razorpay CLI, a developer can test integrations automatically, a finance team can reconcile payments without relying on manual processes, and AI agents can interact with Razorpay directly from coding environments.
“The way businesses work with software is changing fast. Dashboards will continue to exist, but they can no longer be the only way businesses interact with payments,” Khilan Haria, Razorpay Chief Product Officer, said.
Razorpay said the CLI is designed to reduce repetitive manual work tied to payment operations and support more autonomous AI-driven workflows over time.
The company also noted that the launch builds on its earlier investments in AI infrastructure, including its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that enables AI systems to interact with Razorpay’s services.
Last month, Razorpay integrated its payment solutions directly into OpenAI's Codex, the AI-powered coding platform, enabling developers to embed payments into applications within minutes.
