Google Gemini Could Soon Come to iPhones

Google is aiming to finalise a deal with Apple by mid-year to integrate its Gemini AI into upcoming iPhones, CEO Sundar Pichai said during testimony at an antitrust trial in Washington.

Pichai revealed he discussed the potential partnership with Apple CEO Tim Cook last year, which could see Gemini featured within Apple’s new AI offering, Apple Intelligence.

Interestingly, Perplexity AI, a Silicon Valley startup challenging Google in the search market, has secured a deal with Motorola to integrate its search product into Motorola phones. The company is also reportedly in discussions with Samsung for a potential partnership.

The DOJ has accused the tech giant of maintaining an illegal monopoly in online search and aims to block its use ofAI to further consolidate that dominance.

In his testimony, Pichai also disclosed that Google plans to explore placing ads within the Gemini app.

The trial’s outcome could significantly reshape the digital landscape by challenging Google’s dominance in search and AI markets, with Judge Amit Mehta now weighing potential corrective actions.
