FreJun Launches Teler to Help Businesses Build AI-Powered Voice Applications
Teler allows software applications to make and receive phone calls, stream live conversations to AI systems and control call flows in real time.
Cloud calling company FreJun has launched Teler, a programmable voice platform designed to help developers build and deploy AI-powered voice applications using APIs, webhooks and SDKs.
“Many developers building voice applications still have to depend on communications infrastructure outside India, adding unnecessary complexity to deployment. We built Teler to simplify that experience with enterprise-grade voice infrastructure that is built in India and designed for global scale, so developers can spend less time managing telephony and more time building AI applications that create real business value," said Subhash Kalluri, FreJun Founder and CEO.
Positioned as a Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS), Teler allows software applications to make and receive phone calls, stream live conversations to AI systems and control call flows in real time.
Teler is designed to abstract the underlying telecommunications infrastructure. For example, when a customer calls an AI-powered support number, Teler can stream the conversation to the company's AI application in real time. The AI can respond, trigger actions, transfer the caller to a human agent or record the conversation, while Teler manages carrier connectivity, routing and media streaming.
“Building reliable voice applications requires much more than connecting a phone call. It involves managing telecom networks, live media, call orchestration and event handling at scale. We've packaged these capabilities into a developer-friendly platform that enables engineering teams to integrate voice capabilities into their applications without having to build or maintain the underlying communications infrastructure.
"You bring the AI and the idea; Teler handles everything that happens on the phone line, enabling your voice agent to behave like production infrastructure from day one, rather than a prototype,” Nikhilesh Thothara, FreJun CTO, added.
The model-agnostic platform supports AI services including OpenAI, Gemini, ElevenLabs and Deepgram, alongside VAPI, Devnagri and custom models. Early users include R Systems, Vertivox and Voizly.
Teler is generally available with usage-based pricing. FreJun said the platform was built by its 15-member engineering team and will compete with communications API providers including Twilio, Plivo, Telnyx, Bandwidth and Vonage, as well as Indian providers such as Exotel and Ozonetel.
