Databricks Unveils Genie One To Bring AI Coworkers Into Enterprise Workflows
Genie One is part of Databricks’ Genie suite of AI coworkers that transform enterprise data into actionable answers and business outcomes.
Databricks has announced Genie One, a new agentic AI coworker designed to help business teams automate tasks, orchestrate workflows, and generate trusted insights across structured and unstructured data sources.
Introduced at the Data + AI Summit, Genie One is part of Databricks’ Genie suite of AI coworkers that transform enterprise data into actionable answers and business outcomes.
The platform enables users to work with data inside and outside Databricks, connecting analytics, operational systems, documents, applications, and workplace tools.
Earlier this year, Databricks unveiled Genie Code, an autonomous AI agent designed to automate complex data engineering and data science tasks, marking a shift toward what the company calls “agentic data work.”
At the centre of the Genie platform is Genie Ontology, a self-improving context layer that builds a connected understanding of an organisation’s knowledge, including data, documents, tags, content, applications, and people. Databricks said the technology addresses one of the biggest challenges in enterprise AI: providing agents with enough business context to deliver accurate results.
Genie Ontology continuously extracts and updates business knowledge from Databricks and connected workplace applications, including files, tickets, chats, and meetings. This allows Genie to retrieve answers from governed enterprise data rather than rely on incomplete information or assumptions.
“Genie Ontology continuously learns context from data everywhere, so our answers are much faster and our agents are more accurate. That's the difference between an AI chatbot and an agentic coworker who knows your business inside out — every metric, every data source, every answer. Every CEO and business leader should have Genie at their fingertips,” said Ali Ghodsi, Databricks Co-founder and CEO.
Genie One allows employees to query enterprise data using natural language, create reports and documents, generate charts, set alerts, schedule tasks, and build repeatable workflows. The platform also introduces Genie Agents, enabling teams to turn conversations into reusable AI agents with shared instructions and workflows.
Databricks has also launched Genie App Builder, an enterprise-focused development environment that helps teams create applications connected to governed business data, and Genie ZeroOps, an AI agent designed to monitor and improve data and AI assets.
The company said Genie is already being adopted by enterprises including Albertsons, Uplight, and Foot Locker to improve data accessibility and decision-making.
“Our investment in building the Uplight Data Platform on top of Databricks is paying off in powerful new ways. By bringing Genie One capabilities to our data, we’re enabling teams across Uplight to explore, discover, and innovate with more speed, confidence, and creativity than ever before. This is the promise of data democratisation - enabling a culture where curiosity, data-informed decision-making, and innovation can happen at every level of the company,” Micaela Christopher, Uplight Director, Data Science and Engineering, said.
Genie One, Genie Agents, and Genie Code are now generally available, while Genie App Builder and Genie ZeroOps will enter private preview soon. Genie is also available through native iOS and Android applications.
