Darwinbox Appoints Former Salesforce Executive Akshay Murthy as India Country Head
Murthy joins Darwinbox after more than seven years at Salesforce, where he most recently served as Commercial Leader for South Asia.
HR technology unicorn Darwinbox has appointed enterprise software veteran Akshay Murthy as its Vice President and Country Head for India.
Murthy announced the move on LinkedIn, saying Indian enterprises are shifting artificial intelligence in HR from pilot projects to core business infrastructure at a pace faster than many global markets. He added that many legacy HR systems were not designed for the AI era, creating an opportunity for AI-native platforms.
"Indian enterprises are moving AI in HR from pilot projects to core infrastructure faster than most other markets. Most systems weren't built for that shift. That's the gap I'm working to close as Country Head, India at Darwinbox," Murthy wrote.
Murthy joins Darwinbox after more than seven years at Salesforce, where he most recently served as Commercial Leader for South Asia. During his tenure, he held several senior leadership roles, including Regional Vice President of Sales and Regional Sales Director, driving enterprise sales strategy, building high-performing teams, and leading Data and AI adoption across large enterprises.
Before Salesforce, he held leadership positions at Oracle, IBM, and Subex, giving him more than 24 years of experience in enterprise technology and SaaS sales.
Founded in 2015 by Chaitanya Peddi, Jayant Paleti, and Rohit Chennamaneni, Darwinbox is an AI-native human capital management (HCM) platform that helps organisations manage the entire employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to payroll, performance management, employee engagement, and workforce analytics.
The company serves more than 1,000 enterprises globally across sectors including banking, retail, healthcare, manufacturing, and technology.
Since launching operations over a decade ago, the company has expanded across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and North America, competing with established enterprise HR software providers while positioning AI as a core differentiator.
