Apple Developing New Chips for Smart Glasses, Macs, and AI Servers
Mass production could begin by late 2026 or 2027

Apple is reportedly developing new in-house chips for its upcoming smart wearable glasses, next-gen Macs, and AI servers, according to Bloomberg. This move signals Apple's growing ambition to compete with Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses and deepen its AI capabilities.
The chip for smart glasses, based on Apple Watch processors, is designed for low power usage, while the AI server chip will handle Apple Intelligence tasks before sending results to user devices. Mass production could begin by late 2026 or 2027.
Apple is also planning AI integrations in Safari with partners like Google, OpenAI, or Perplexity. Google CEO Sundar Pichai confirmed ongoing talks to bring Gemini to Apple Intelligence this year.
This follows Apple’s recent unveiling of its custom modem chip and adds to its push for self-reliant hardware, building on the success of its M-series chips.
Other reports also suggest Apple will release iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models with M5 chips later this year.
