Anthropic Introduces India Pricing for Claude AI Subscriptions Amid Market Expansion
Claude Pro is priced at ₹1,999 per month, while Claude Max costs ₹11,999 per month
Anthropic has introduced India-specific pricing for its Claude AI subscriptions, allowing customers to pay in Indian Rupees instead of US dollars. The new pricing is being rolled out in phases across Claude's web platform and mobile apps.
Under the revised plans, Claude Pro is priced at ₹1,999 per month, while Claude Max costs ₹11,999 per month for the 5x usage tier and ₹23,999 per month for the 20x usage tier. Claude Team, designed for businesses, starts at ₹2,399 per seat per month with a minimum of five users.
Previously, Indian users had to pay in US dollars using international payment methods. The shift to local currency is expected to simplify subscriptions and improve accessibility for customers across the country.
The move reflects India's growing importance for Anthropic. According to the company's India Economic Index released earlier this year, India accounts for 5.8% of global Claude.ai consumer usage, making it Anthropic's second-largest market after the US.
The announcement comes amid intensifying competition in India's AI chatbot market. OpenAI offers ChatGPT Plus at around ₹1,999 per month, while Google bundles Gemini Advanced with its Google AI Pro plan priced at ₹1,950 per month.
Anthropic has also extended its promotional offer for Claude Fable 5 until July 19, enabling eligible paid subscribers to access the model without additional charges within their existing usage limits.
The company has recently expanded its India-focused initiatives, including launching Claude for Small Business and growing its enterprise offerings, as it looks to drive adoption among developers, startups, students, and enterprises.
