Neo4j Acquires GraphAware to Build AI-Powered Alternative to Palantir for Government Intelligence
The acquisition forms part of Neo4j’s broader $100 million AI investment strategy.
Neo4j has announced an agreement to acquire GraphAware, a company specialising in intelligence analysis software for government agencies.
The deal is expected to accelerate the development of AI-powered graph intelligence solutions and position Neo4j as an open, sovereign alternative to proprietary intelligence platforms such as Palantir Gotham.
The acquisition forms part of Neo4j’s broader $100 million AI investment strategy and is expected to strengthen its capabilities in building autonomous, context-aware AI agents that can transform fragmented data into explainable and actionable intelligence.
By integrating GraphAware’s Hume intelligence analysis platform into its graph intelligence ecosystem, Neo4j plans to offer government agencies a solution built on open standards, allowing organisations greater control over their data, deployment models, and AI infrastructure.
“For over a decade, governments have utilized intelligence analysis software from Palantir. Now they will have a legitimate choice with GraphAware Hume, powered by the Neo4j graph intelligence platform. We aren’t just launching a new intelligence analysis alternative to Palantir Gotham. We’re acquiring a proven solution that’s built on open-standards technology, and already trusted by government agencies throughout the world," said Emil Eifrem, Neo4j Founder and CEO.
GraphAware Hume is designed for intelligence and security environments, enabling analysts to connect fragmented datasets, uncover hidden relationships, and collaborate across investigations. The platform is already being used by law enforcement agencies, defense organisations, and cybersecurity teams.
Neo4j highlighted several existing deployments, including the Western Australia Police Force, the U.S. Department of Defense, and a European national cyber defense agency. These organisations use graph intelligence and AI to accelerate investigations, detect threats, and support mission-critical decision-making.
The acquisition also reflects growing demand for graph-based AI systems. Neo4j said it has seen a fourfold increase in customers building AI-ready data environments, with many already operating in production.
“We have long relied on Neo4j’s platform to put the power of connected data into the hands of analysts. By joining forces, we will drive tighter integration and faster innovation, delivering game-changing AI capabilities to our existing joint customers and new organisations worldwide," said Michal Bachman, GraphAware Founder and CEO.
