Fintech Giant Stripe Launches a Foundational Model for Payments
Stripe said that the model boosted detection of card-testing attacks on large enterprises by 64% almost instantly

At its annual Stripe Sessions event on Wednesday, fintech leader Stripe announced that they have developed a AI foundational model for payments.
The new payments-focused AI model was trained on tens of billions of transactions, allowing it to detect “hundreds of subtle signals” that traditional models might overlook, according to the company.
A key application is fraud detection—Stripe said that the model boosted detection of card-testing attacks on large enterprises by 64% almost instantly.
Card-testing attacks involve cybercriminals verifying stolen card details through small transactions before using them for larger fraudulent purchases. Stripe says its earlier models already reduced such incidents by 80% over two years, but the new foundation model accelerates that progress.
At the event, Stripe also announced stablecoin-powered accounts, a new Orchestration tool, and news of a recent migration partnership with chip giant Nvidia.
