Salesforce Upgrades Slackbot into AI-Powered Assistant with Multi-Agent Integrations
The upgraded Slackbot now acts as a personalised AI assistant, delivering contextual insights across Google Drive, Salesforce, and OneDrive.

At Dreamforce 2025, Slack announced major AI upgrades to Slackbot, transforming it from a simple notification tool into a powerful, conversational assistant.
Previously limited to reminders and status updates, Slackbot will soon be able to converse with users, handle tasks, analyse documents, and assist with ongoing projects.
The upgraded Slackbot now acts as a personalised AI assistant, delivering contextual insights across Google Drive, Salesforce, and OneDrive. Alongside it, Channel Expert offers instant, in-channel answers drawn from company knowledge.
Powered by the Real-Time Search API and Model Context Protocol, Slack enables partners like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Perplexity to build context-aware agents—uniting workflow automation, enterprise search, and intelligent assistance in one collaborative platform.
Welcome to the agentic era of work. ✨

In a significant expansion of its AI ecosystem, Slack is also welcoming third-party agents from companies including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity. Users will be able to summon these agents—such as tagging “@Claude” to perform a web search or surface new insights from within their workspace—making Slack a true hub for multi-agent collaboration.
Currently in beta with 70,000 users, the AI-powered Slackbot is set for general release in January 2026, with broader rollout expected later in the year. Companies will retain the option to disable the feature if desired.
The upgrade comes amid a broader AI boom across productivity apps, as platforms like Microsoft Teams, Canva, and Duolingo add intelligent features to enhance efficiency and attract enterprise adoption.
Recently, a dedicated ChatGPT app for Slack was also announced. It lets users chat directly with ChatGPT in a sidebar, making it easy to brainstorm ideas, draft messages, and gather context—all without switching apps or leaving the Slack workspace.
"We’ve also introduced a standalone Slack connector for ChatGPT. We know Slack is where your most important work context lives, and ChatGPT can now bring in that context to feel more like a trusted teammate," Hemal Shah from OpenAI said.
