Salesforce to Acquire Cimulate to Boost AI-driven Commerce Search

Salesforce has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cimulate, an AI-powered product discovery and agentic commerce startup, as it deepens its push into AI-led retail experiences through its Agentforce Commerce platform.

The company said the acquisition will enhance search, discovery and personalization capabilities for retailers as shopping shifts toward conversational and intent-driven experiences.

The deal aims to help merchants move beyond keyword-based search toward systems that understand shopper intent in real time. Cimulate’s platform uses real and simulated shopper journey data to power contextual search and discovery across digital storefronts.

Once integrated into Agentforce Commerce, the technology is expected to improve how customers find and evaluate products while enabling brands to focus on growth and customer engagement strategies.

“The future of commerce is agentic, moving beyond simple transactions to intuitive, conversational discovery,” said Nitin Mangtani, SVP & GM, Commerce and Retail, Salesforce. “By integrating Cimulate’s technology into Agentforce Commerce, we’re helping retailers close the gap between shopper intent and action, delivering experiences that feel more natural, relevant, and effective.”

“Joining Salesforce allows us to scale our technology and put it in the hands of the world’s leading retailers,” said John Andrews, CEO and Co-Founder of Cimulate. “Together, we can help brands move beyond legacy search to experiences that truly understand what shoppers are looking for and respond in real time.”

Cimulate’s team will join Salesforce as part of the transaction, bringing expertise in intent-aware and contextual commerce search. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2027, subject to customary conditions.

In December last year, Salesforce signed a definitive agreement to acquire Qualified, a provider of agentic AI marketing solutions, as it deepens its push to build autonomous, AI-driven revenue engines for enterprises.
