Razorpay Integrates Payment Solutions into OpenAI Codex to Enable Faster App Monetisation

Razorpay has integrated its payment solutions directly into OpenAI's Codex, the AI-powered coding platform, enabling developers to embed payments into applications within minutes.

The integration allows developers to activate Razorpay’s MCP Server within Codex and automate the setup of payment infrastructure. This eliminates the need for manual coding of payment gateways, enabling a faster transition from building applications to monetising them. For instance, developers can prompt Codex to create an app and simultaneously configure Razorpay’s payment system to handle transactions and checkout flows automatically.

The collaboration also extends to ChatGPT, where businesses can install Razorpay’s app from the platform’s directory. This enables users to manage payments through conversational commands, including tracking settlements, reconciling transactions, and handling refunds.

“Our vision is simple: if AI makes it effortless to build, Razorpay should make it effortless to earn. By bringing Razorpay directly into Codex, the moment a developer creates something valuable, they can start charging for it immediately,” Shashank Kumar, Razorpay Co-founder and Managing Director, said.

The launch aligns with Razorpay’s broader strategy to support AI-driven commerce. The company has also collaborated with OpenAI and the National Payments Corporation of India(NPCI) to enable agentic payments, allowing AI systems to securely initiate and complete financial transactions on behalf of users.
