Musk Confirms on X Grok 3.5 Will Release on May 5
'Grok is reasoning from first principles and coming up with answers that simply don’t exist on the Internet,' Musk said

xAI founder Elon Musk has revealed on X (previously Twitter) that the company will release a newer version of its AI Model– Grok3.5– next week. The release will be in beta and available exclusively to SuperGrok users.
"It is the first AI that can, for example, accurately answer technical questions about rocket engines or electrochemistry. Grok is reasoning from first principles and coming up with answers that simply don’t exist on the Internet," Musk said.
Grok 3.5 is expected to code exceptionally well, building on Grok 3's strong performance, which scored 79.4% on coding benchmarks, outperforming ChatGPT's 72.9%. It can write, optimize, and debug code in languages like Python and C++. Enhanced reasoning in Grok 3.5 should make it…

Grok 3.5 is anticipated to deliver exceptional coding capabilities, building on the strong performance of Grok 3, which achieved a 79.4% score on coding benchmarks—surpassing ChatGPT’s 72.9%.
It can generate, optimise, and debug code in languages like Python and C++, and its improved reasoning abilities are expected to enhance performance on complex tasks such as algorithm design.
While official benchmarks will be available following its beta release on May 5, 2025, tools like Grok Studio are expected to further streamline coding workflows and improve developer productivity.
The startup released Grok 3 on February 17, 2025. While Grok 3 is not open source. xAI has a policy of open-sourcing previous models when a newer version is fully released.
It remains to be seen if Grok 3 will be open-sourced upon the arrival of Grok 3.5.
