Microsoft Says Around 1 Million AI Agents were Made Using Copilot Studio

Microsoft just announced its third-quarter results for the FY2025. While revenue reached $70.1 billion,  net income was $25.8 billion, an 18% increase from the previous quarter.

However, among the numbers released by Microsoft, what caught our attention was that customers created around 1 million AI Agents on their own using SharePoint and Copilot Studio.

This was revealed by Microsoft CEO & Chairman Satya Nadella in a LinkedIn post.

Launched in May 2024, Copilot Studio has seen explosive growth, with over 100,000 organisations creating or editing AI agents within just a few months.

The platform connects with over 1,400 enterprise systems and data sources—including SAP, ServiceNow, and SQL databases—enabling organisations to create agents that operate across their existing IT infrastructure.

While companies can build fully custom agents, Microsoft has also introduced ten pre-built autonomous agents focused on key business areas such as sales, customer service, finance, and supply chain, helping accelerate adoption for common enterprise needs.

However, Microsoft has not disclosed which types of agents are proving most popular among customers.

"Microsoft 365 Copilot is now being used by hundreds of thousands of customers across industries, up 3X year-over-year," Nadella added.
