Meta Rolls Out AI-Powered ‘Dating Assistant’ and ‘Meet Cute’ to Fight Swipe Fatigue

Menlo Park, Sept. 23, 2025 — Meta is adding two new features to Facebook Dating aimed at easing “swipe fatigue” and giving young adults fresh ways to connect online. The platform, available for free within the Facebook app, now includes a Dating Assistant and Meet Cute to help users move beyond endless swiping.

Facebook said hundreds of thousands of young adults in the US and Canada create dating profiles each month, with matches among 18- to 29-year-olds up 10% year over year.

The new Dating Assistant acts as a chat-based guide, helping users refine matches based on unique preferences. Unlike traditional filters such as age or education, users can enter prompts like “Find me a Brooklyn girl in tech” for tailored results. It can also suggest dating ideas or tips to improve profiles. The feature will roll out gradually across the US and Canada.

"It can help you find better matches based on your interests and preferences, giving you refined search and custom match recommendations," Meta says.

Meanwhile, Meet Cute introduces an algorithm-driven surprise match. Users receive a weekly match, reducing indecision and expanding dating options without constant swiping. They can choose to chat or pass, with the option to opt out of the feature at any time.

Meta says the updates are designed to make dating on Facebook “easy, fun, and free,” while continuing to evolve the platform for younger audiences.
