Manus AI Maker Butterfly Effect Raises $75 mn to Expand into the US
The startup also plans to expand into Japan, and the Middle East

Chinese startup Butterfly Effect, the company behind Manus AI, has raised $75 million in a funding round led by U.S. venture capital firm Benchmark, according to a Bloomberg report citing sources familiar with the matter.
Butterfly Effect plans to use the new capital to expand into international markets, including the U.S., Japan, and the Middle East.
The round, which also included support from existing investors, has reportedly boosted the startup’s valuation to nearly $500 million—a fivefold increase.
Manus made headlines in March with the launch of its general-purpose AI agent designed to handle a wide range of tasks, from resume screening and trip planning to stock analysis. The company claims its tool outperforms OpenAI’s Deep Research on several benchmarks.
The startup launched two premium plans—$39/month with 3,900 credits and $199/month with 19,900 credits—offering simultaneous task runs and priority access, though performance may not meet all claims.
Previously, Manus raised over $10 million from investors such as Tencent, ZhenFund, and HSG.
