According to CEO Ryan Roslansky, one LinkedIn feature that hasn’t gained as much traction as expected is AI-generated suggestions for improving posts.

He told Bloomberg he was surprised by the lack of popularity, noting, “It’s not as popular as I thought it would be.”

He attributed the hesitation to the high stakes of LinkedIn, calling it “your resume online,” where posting poorly can have real consequences.

“If you’re getting called out on X or TikTok, that’s one thing,” Roslansky said. “But when you’re getting called out on LinkedIn, it really impacts your ability to create economic opportunity for yourself.”

Still, the platform has seen a surge in AI engagement elsewhere: AI-related job listings have increased sixfold over the past year.

"There’s roughly 15 million jobs posted on LinkedIn at any given time. Over the last year, there’s been a 6x increase in the skills required in any of those jobs being AI-related. On the flip side, over the past year, members adding an AI skill to their profile is up 20x. We’re seeing this AI wave come across the member base," he said in the interview.

Roslansky also shared that he uses AI himself—specifically Microsoft’s Copilot—to refine emails to his boss, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

He became LinkedIn's CEO five years ago and has overseen the platform’s growth from $7 billion to $17 billion in annual revenue.

More recently, his role has expanded to include oversight of the teams responsible for Microsoft’s Office product suite.
