Google has entered a long-term partnership with TSMC, signaling a major shift in its hardware strategy and a deeper commitment to enhancing Pixel performance.

According to DigiTimes, Google executives recently visited TSMC’s headquarters in Taiwan to finalise a multi-year collaboration, which may extend to cloud TPU chips, IC design, servers, and advanced cooling systems.

The upcoming Tensor G5 chip, codenamed “Laguna,” will debut with the Pixel 10 series and be manufactured using TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm N3E process—an upgrade from Samsung’s 4nm node used for the Tensor G4.

This shift is expected to improve thermal efficiency, power usage, and chip yield.

Rumored specs for the Tensor G5 include a Cortex-X4, five A725, two A520 cores, Google’s custom TPU, GXP, EdgeTPU, and an Imagination Technologies GPU.

With four Pixel 10 models expected, this move aims to deliver flagship-grade performance with better production stability.
