Google Launches 'Vibe Coding' in AI Studio, Aiming to Turn Ideas Into Apps in Minutes
The release also introduces an enhanced App Gallery for inspiration and an Annotation Mode.
Google LLC announced the introduction of “vibe coding” in its Google AI Studio platform, designed to streamline the process of building AI-powered applications.
The new experience lets developers — and even non-coders — describe an app concept and have the system automatically wire together models, APIs and services to turn that idea into a working prototype.
With vibe coding powered by Gemini models, users can simply write, for example, “Make a magic mirror that transforms selfies,” and the platform will configure the right models, connect the necessary APIs and deploy the application.
"We’ve made the process of creating a powerful, feature-rich, AI-powered app effortless. You bring the idea; we'll connect the magic. And for those moments when you need a creative spark, you can hit the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button and we’ll help you get started," Google said in a blog post.
The release also introduces an enhanced App Gallery for inspiration and an Annotation Mode, where users highlight portions of the app interface and request changes in natural language (e.g., “change this button colour to blue”).
Google says the update is aimed at lowering the barrier between a creative idea and a live app by embedding AI into each step — from ideation to iteration. The platform also offers a seamless option for users to add their own API key if they exceed free quotas, ensuring an uninterrupted flow.
