Cursor is Writing 1 Bn Lines of Codes Each Day

Cursor, the AI coding tool developed by Anysphere, is writing 1 billion lines of accepted code each day, according to co-founder Aman Sanger.
"To put things into perspective, the entire world produces just a few billion lines daily," Sanger said.
In a social media post, he further said that around 40% of the codes written by professional engineers is generated by Cursor.

Reportedly, before entering acquisition talks with AI coding startup WindsurfIn a social media post, he further said that around 40% of the codes written by professional engineers is , OpenAI reportedly explored buying Cursor.
OpenAI approached Anysphere twice, once in 2023 and again in 2024 as the app surged in popularity. However, both sets of discussions failed to move forward.
Interestingly, OpenAI has participated in Cursor's funding round through its OpenAI Startup Fund.
