Cloudflare Unveils Advanced Security Features to Protect Data from AI Applications
The newly announced enhancements include AI Security Posture Management (AI-SPM), AI Prompt Protection, and expanded MCP Server Control.

Cloudflare has announced a major expansion to its Cloudflare One Zero Trust platform, unveiling new features aimed at helping businesses securely adopt and manage generative AI applications.
Earlier this year, Cloudflare became the first internet infrastructure provider to block AI crawlers by default — unless content owners give explicit permission or compensation.
The newly announced enhancements include AI Security Posture Management (AI-SPM), AI Prompt Protection, and expanded MCP Server Control—tools designed to give organizations complete visibility and control over how AI is used across teams.
As more employees across departments—from finance to engineering—embrace generative AI, Cloudflare warns that this adoption often happens without proper security oversight. Employees may unintentionally share sensitive information with AI models, or developers may deploy AI tools without vetting. These new tools aim to bridge that gap.
“Cloudflare is the best place to help any business roll out AI securely. We are the only company today that can offer the security of a Zero Trust platform with a full set of AI and inference development products—all backed with the scale of a global network. The world’s most innovative companies want to pull the AI lever to move, build and scale fast, without sacrificing security. We are in a unique position to help power that innovation–and help bring AI to all businesses safely,” Matthew Prince, CEO and co-founder of Cloudflare, said.
Key features include the Shadow AI Report, which reveals exactly how and which AI tools are being used within an organization. Cloudflare Gateway enforces AI access policies across users globally.
AI Prompt Protection flags risky AI interactions, preventing sensitive data from being submitted. The Zero Trust MCP Server Control adds visibility into AI model-to-tool interactions for deeper governance.
With AI becoming an integral part of modern business, Cloudflare’s expanded Zero Trust offering helps companies scale AI securely—enhancing innovation while maintaining compliance and data integrity.
