Anthropic has rolled out long-context support for Claude Sonnet 4, now capable of processing up to 1 million tokens—a 5x increase—on the Anthropic API. This breakthrough allows developers to feed in full codebases (over 75,000 lines of code) or analyse dozens of documents in a single prompt.

The public beta is now available on the Anthropic API and Amazon Bedrock, with Google Cloud’s Vertex AI support coming soon.

With extended context, Sonnet 4 unlocks powerful use cases:

  • Large-scale code analysis across full projects
  • Document synthesis over massive legal, research, or technical datasets
  • Context-aware AI agents that handle long workflows and tool interactions

To accommodate larger workloads, Anthropic has updated pricing: inputs above 200K tokens are billed at $6/MTok, and outputs at $22.50/MTok. Users can reduce costs further with prompt caching and batch processing (up to 50% savings).

Companies like Bolt.new and iGent AI are already seeing real-world impact.

“With the 1M context window, developers can work on significantly larger projects,” said Eric Simons, CEO of Bolt.new.

iGent AI’s CEO Sean Ward added, “This leap unlocks true production-scale engineering, establishing a new paradigm in agentic software engineering.”
