Atlassian, the company behind productivity software behind Jira, Confluence, and Loom, has inaugurated a new R&D Centre in Bengaluru, spanning over 2 lakh square feet—four times the size of its previous office.
India has emerged as Atlassian’s fastest-growing R&D site, with nearly 75% of its 2,500-plus employees engaged in research and development. The Bengaluru centre will accelerate advancements in enterprise search, commerce, customer success, and data residency, making India one of the company’s most critical innovation engines outside Australia and the U.S.
“India continues to be one of our most important R&D hubs, and Bengaluru sits at the heart of this growth,” said Rajeev Rajan, Chief Technology Officer, Atlassian. “This new world-class R&D Centre is more than just a larger space, it’s a symbol of our investment in the future of work, in distributed teamwork, and most importantly, in the exceptional talent we have here in India.”
The centre is designed to support Atlassian’s Team Anywhere policy, with flexible workstations, collaboration zones, wellness areas, and hybrid-work technology.
Avani Prabhakar, Chief People Officer, added: “Our new R&D Centre is a destination for the incredible talent we have in India—designed for how we work today and how we will work tomorrow.”
Atlassian entered India in 2018 with 60 employees. Today, the country hosts its largest workforce outside Australia and the U.S., reflecting its pivotal role in Atlassian’s global growth strategy.
