Apple Enhances Xcode With AI-Powered ‘Agentic Coding’ Tools in Major Update

Apple on Tuesday released Xcode 26.3, a significant update to its integrated development environment that introduces advanced AI-assisted coding features designed to help developers work faster and more efficiently.

The enhancements aim to integrate emerging “agentic coding” experiences directly into developers’ workflows, bringing generative AI tools into mainstream app creation on Apple platforms.

The update builds on Apple’s ongoing investment in tools that help developers generate and refine code using artificial intelligence. With Xcode 26.3, coders can now leverage code suggestions, automated refactoring, and AI-assisted code generation directly inside the editor.

These features are powered by Apple’s on-device and cloud-based intelligence systems, allowing developers to harness AI without sacrificing privacy or security.

According to Apple, the new tools can help developers reduce boilerplate code, identify bugs more quickly, and explore alternative implementations with natural language prompts.

For example, a developer can ask the system to rewrite a function to be more efficient or generate new user interface code consistent with Apple’s design guidelines. These features are integrated with Apple’s existing refactoring engine and diagnostics to preserve code quality and maintainability.
