Zoom Communications and NVIDIA have joined forces to enhance enterprise-grade artificial intelligence through a new hybrid language model architecture.

The collaboration integrates NVIDIA’s Nemotron open technologies into Zoom’s federated AI system, powering the latest AI Companion 3.0 across sectors including finance, healthcare, and government.

The new framework combines Zoom’s Small Language Models (SLMs)—designed for speed and efficiency in specific tasks—with a fine-tuned Large Language Model (LLM) optimised for complex reasoning.

The result, according to the company, is faster, more cost-efficient AI that can adapt intelligently to user needs. Zoom’s 49-billion-parameter LLM, built on NVIDIA Nemotron and developed using NVIDIA NeMo tools, strikes a balance between performance, accuracy, and affordability, the company said.

“We’ve increased our speed and enhanced lower-cost model decision making using NVIDIA GPUs and AI software stack, helping to optimise AI Companion’s core capabilities and enable faster go-to-market timelines,” said X.D. Huang, CTO at Zoom. “With the help of NVIDIA Nemotron open technologies, we’re accelerating the development of our enterprise retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) capabilities.”

Kari Briski, vice president of generative AI software at NVIDIA, said, “The integration of NVIDIA Nemotron into Zoom AI Companion allows enterprises like NVIDIA to experience a private, powerful, and personalized work environment for enhanced productivity.”

The partnership underscores both companies’ commitment to responsible AI development, emphasizing data privacy and transparency. Zoom reaffirmed that it does not use customer data—such as audio, video, chat, or shared content—to train its or third-party AI models.

Together, Zoom and NVIDIA aim to shape the next phase of enterprise AI innovation, blending performance, privacy, and intelligence into a single federated ecosystem.
