Y Combinator Brings Startup School to India, Deepening Engagement with Local Founders
The programme aims to bring together builders, hackers and early-stage founders from across the country to discuss emerging trends in technology and entrepreneurship
Y Combinator, the Silicon Valley startup accelerator behind companies such as Airbnb, Dropbox, Stripe, Reddit, Meesho and Zepto, has announced that its Startup School programme will now be held in India, according to media reports.
The programme aims to bring together builders, hackers and early-stage founders from across the country to discuss emerging trends in technology and entrepreneurship. According to the announcement, the event will feature participation from founders and operators associated with companies including Razorpay, Meesho, Groww and Emergent.
For India’s startup community, the move signals that one of Silicon Valley’s most influential startup institutions sees growing momentum in the market.
Ankit Gupta, general partner at Y Combinator, said the programme would convene leading builders and hackers from across India and include figures from Razorpay, Meesho, Groww and Emergent. The initiative is intended as a gathering point for founders, technologists and operators rather than simply a brand presence in the region.
Founded in 2005, Y Combinator has invested in more than 4,500 startups worldwide, making it one of the most prominent accelerators globally. Its programmes combine early-stage capital, mentorship, investor access and support from a large alumni network.
The accelerator typically runs four batches a year—winter, spring, summer and autumn—each lasting about three months and culminating in a Demo Day where startups present to investors.
By bringing Startup School to India, Y Combinator aims to help nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs by connecting local founders with global expertise, mentorship opportunities and access to its international startup network.
