Workday Expands India Presence with Local Data Centre

Enterprise cloud leader Workday is deepening its commitment to India with a strategic expansion that includes launching its first local data centre, boosting sales operations, and scaling its partner ecosystem.

Workday announced that it will begin offering services from a data centre in India, operational by the first half of 2026.

Hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), this move allows customers in India to deploy Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), Financial Management, and Adaptive Planning locally—enhancing performance while meeting critical data sovereignty and compliance requirements.

“Deploying Workday on a local AWS data centre will provide critical data residency capabilities for our Indian customers, while our expanded sales presence will allow us to better serve the growing market,” Simon Tate, President, Asia Pacific, said in a press release.

Workday currently employs nearly 700 professionals across Pune and Mumbai and recently announced a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Chennai to drive AI innovation and support global operations.

Workday is the AI platform for managing people, money, and agents. The Workday platform is built with AI at the core to help customers elevate people, supercharge work, and move their business forever forward.
