Wealthy Raises ₹130 Crore in Series B Round to Expand AI-Powered Platform for Mutual Fund Distributors

Bengaluru-based wealth-tech startup Wealthy has raised ₹130 crore in a Series B funding round led by Bertelsmann India Investments, with participation from existing investor Alphawave Global, new investor Shepherd’s Hill, and several prominent tech entrepreneurs.

The company said the new infusion will accelerate its mission to empower India’s rapidly growing community of mutual fund distributors (MFDs) through advanced AI-driven tools and digital infrastructure.

Founded by Aditya Agarwal and Prashant Gupta, alumni of IIT and IIM, Wealthy currently processes more than ₹300 crore in monthly transactions. The platform works with over 6,000 distributors, serves more than 100,000 clients across 1,000 towns, and continues to onboard more than 350 new distributors every month.

“India has a fundamental advice gap that technology alone cannot solve. LIC serves over 40 crore customers, yet mutual funds have only five crore investors. This gap exists because we have too few advisors, and the ones we have lack the tools to scale,” Agarwal said.

The startup now manages ₹5,000 crore in client assets, a sharp rise from ₹200 crore three years ago. The startup also operates 20 offices nationwide with a 250-member team.

Highlighting the need for scalable advisory solutions, co-founder Aditya Agarwal said, “India has a fundamental advice gap that technology alone cannot solve. LIC serves over 40 crore customers, yet mutual funds have only five crore investors. This gap exists because we have too few advisors, and the ones we have lack the tools to scale.”

Wealthy’s 360° AI-powered platform integrates investments, stocks, mutual funds, PMS, fixed-income products, and insurance, enabling seamless access to over 200 financial institutions. Distributors benefit from AI-enhanced workflows, real-time alerts, rapid KYC, advanced analytics, and enterprise-grade digital tools.

Commenting on India’s evolving investment landscape, Rohit Sood of Bertelsmann India Investments said, “Less than 15% of Indian households have any exposure to the Indian equities market, either directly or indirectly. As India marches on its way to being a developed country, we believe this number will move closer to 60% and catch up with developed markets.”
