# UiPath Launches Cartographer to Map How Enterprise Work Actually Gets Done

UiPath has launched UiPath [Cartographer](https://www.uipath.com/newsroom/uipath-launches-uipath-cartographer-map-of-work?ref=theleftshift.com), a new product designed to create what the company calls a “Map of Work”—a living, governed view of how business processes actually operate inside an enterprise- at its FUSION conference in Las Vegas.

Cartographer addresses a growing challenge for enterprises adopting AI agents and automation by capturing how work is actually carried out, including the exceptions and decisions that rarely appear in formal process documents.

[UiPath](https://www.theleftshift.com/uipath-expands-india-presence-with-new-innovation-hub-in-bengaluru/) says this knowledge is frequently reconstructed whenever a new automation or AI project begins, creating a gap between the documented process and how work happens in practice.

Cartographer attempts to turn that operational knowledge into a structured and governed source of truth. Instead of relying on weeks of interviews and manually created process documents, business analysts can use guided conversations to bring together documents, process steps, rules and exceptions from different systems. 

The resulting Map of Work can then be used to identify opportunities for process redesign and build [agents](https://www.theleftshift.com/gitlab-19-4-expands-ai-agents-across-devops-with-new-models-and-controls/), workflows and automations.

The product offers three ways to create these maps. Prebuilt Maps cover common business processes such as loan origination, healthcare claims review and source-to-pay. 

Process Atlas provides a library of maps for complex processes across industries, including case plans, KPIs, benchmarks, policies and rules. Enterprises can also build their own maps for proprietary processes where governance and company-specific knowledge are critical.

The maps are designed to remain connected to the automations built from them. As employees make decisions during a process, those decisions can be captured and proposed as changes to the Map of Work, although the designated owner must approve or reject every change.

Cartographer also integrates with [UiPath Maestro](https://www.uipath.com/product/maestro?ref=theleftshift.com) for orchestrating agents and workflows, while the company’s Decision Ledger records decisions and the reasoning behind them. UiPath says this creates a continuous improvement loop in which operational knowledge is updated as processes run.

UiPath has also expanded its platform with new capabilities for enterprise AI and automation, including generally available Coding Agents, the new Delegate productivity agent, and enhanced data and integration tools. 

The company introduced stronger governance controls, model monitoring and compliance features. Its Automation Suite is now available on [Linux](https://www.theleftshift.com/openai-brings-chatgpt-desktop-app-to-linux-expanding-its-agentic-push/), giving enterprises greater control over AI workloads, data and security.
