TCS Wins 5-Year NHS Supply Chain Deal to Modernise Core IT and Cloud Infrastructure

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been selected by NHS Supply Chain for a major five-year engagement to modernise its core business systems, cloud platforms, and digital operations.

As part of the programme, TCS will deploy cloud- and AI-enabled solutions aimed at improving efficiency, resilience and frontline service delivery across one of the UK’s largest healthcare supply networks.

The partnership aligns TCS’ experience in large-scale transformation with NHS Supply Chain’s goal of becoming a modern, adaptable organisation focused on people, purpose and performance.

TCS will replace legacy systems with a modern Supply Chain ERP platform designed to accelerate time to market, improve scalability and enhance customer experience. The company will also shift legacy operations to a product- and platform-based IT operating model to meet the evolving needs of healthcare providers.

“This shift will strengthen our resilience, improve user experience, and enable us to respond faster to changing business and customer needs. Ultimately, it will enhance our operational efficiency and service delivery as we work towards our commitment to unlock over £1 billion in recurrent value by 2030,” Matthew Wynn, Executive Director, Data and Technology at NHS Supply Chain, said.

The transformation will support a network of more than 1,000 suppliers, eight million annual orders, and deliveries to 17,000 locations across the UK. Enhanced digital capabilities will help NHS Supply Chain make smarter deliveries, operate more strategically and support frontline healthcare services while managing cost pressures.

TCS will also introduce improved governance, agile delivery frameworks and sustainability-focused processes to reduce environmental impact and enhance long-term efficiency.

“TCS has decades of experience in taking large, complex legacy systems and modernising them using solutions like cloud and AI-enabled platforms. Our work will replace the existing legacy system with a state-of-the-art supply chain ERP solution to help NHS Supply Chain deliver more for less and enhance patient experience,” Vinay Singhvi, Head, UK & Ireland, TCS, added.
