TCS Partners with SINTEF to Advance Social AI for Elderly Care in Norway
The partnership’s first major focus will be enhancing elderly care in Norway through Social AI, building on SINTEF’s successful eHealth initiative, SMILE (Smart Inclusive Living Environments).
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a strategic partnership with SINTEF, one of Europe’s largest independent research foundations.
The collaboration aims to develop scalable, real-world innovations powered by Artificial Intelligence, combining TCS’s deep expertise in digital transformation with SINTEF’s strong multidisciplinary research capabilities.
The partnership’s first major focus will be enhancing elderly care in Norway through Social AI, building on SINTEF’s successful eHealth initiative, SMILE (Smart Inclusive Living Environments). SMILE is designed to help senior citizens live independently and safely at home by connecting them with caregivers, family members, and their local communities.
The platform facilitates communication, medication reminders, and access to health services, promoting active living and reducing social isolation.
“Rooted in the heritage of the world-renowned Tata Group, we recognize TCS’ ambition in creating long term value… I believe that together, we can improve the quality of life and help the elderly in Norway to be able to stay healthy, in the comfort of their homes much longer,” Alexandra Bech Gjørv, President and CEO of SINTEF, said.
The collaboration aims to push the boundaries of personalized care through Social AI, tailoring support based on individual needs and creating a foundation for more inclusive healthcare solutions.
“Together with SINTEF, the identification of specific, practical AI use cases that address real business challenges focusing into usability and human-centric approach will become to full circle. Our digital technologies will add scale and speed to SINTEF’s research and innovation activities, enabling these projects to have an even greater reach and impact for society,” Sapthagiri Chapalapalli, Head of Europe at TCS, added.
TCS has been present in the Nordic region since 1991 and employs around 20,000 experts serving customers across Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
