STT GDC India to Invest ₹5,000 Crore in New AI-Ready Data Centres Across Maharashtra
The investment will go toward expanding existing data centre parks and establishing a new 27-acre campus in Palava.
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC India) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Maharashtra to invest up to ₹5,000 crore in expanding and developing new data centre campuses in Mumbai and Pune.
The agreement was formalised in Mumbai in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, senior government officials, and STT GDC leadership. The investment will go toward expanding existing data centre parks and establishing a new 27-acre campus in Palava, designed to support high-performance and AI-driven computing workloads.
The initiative is expected to create over 500 skilled jobs and around 2,000 indirect employment opportunities, strengthening Maharashtra’s digital infrastructure and economic growth.
“This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to accelerating digital transformation and positioning Maharashtra as a preferred destination for global technology infrastructure,” said Bruno Lopez, President and Group CEO of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres.
Chief Minister Fadnavis called the move a “key step forward in Maharashtra’s digital journey,” adding that the government will “fully support the projects to ensure timely completion and create new opportunities for skilled workers and related industries.”
With this expansion, STT GDC India now operates across 10 major cities, including Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Noida, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
“Through our planned investments, we aim to build scalable, sustainable and AI-ready data centre campuses featuring advanced liquid cooling technologies that will help build a robust digital backbone for hyperscale clients, enterprises and communities in Maharashtra,” Bimal Khandelwal, CEO of STT GDC India, said.
