Replit Raises $400 Mn to Expand AI Coding Platform
The new round represents a sharp increase from the company’s $3 billion valuation just months earlier, reflecting strong demand for AI-powered developer tools.
Replit has raised $400 million in new funding, pushing the AI coding startup’s valuation to about $9 billion as investor interest surges in tools that allow users to build software using artificial intelligence.
The funding round was led by venture firm Georgian, with participation from several existing investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Coatue, Craft Ventures and Y Combinator. The new round represents a sharp increase from the company’s $3 billion valuation just months earlier, reflecting strong demand for AI-powered developer tools.
Founded by Amjad Masad, Replit has positioned itself at the center of the growing “vibe coding” movement, where software can be built using natural language prompts instead of traditional programming. The company’s platform enables users to generate code, deploy applications and manage infrastructure within a single environment.
Replit said the funding will help accelerate the development of its AI coding agents and expand the company’s global presence. The startup also plans to invest in new capabilities such as payments, security and hosting tools to help users turn simple ideas into fully functioning applications and businesses.
Investor Margaret Wu of Georgian said the company’s technology is reshaping how software is created. “They are showing the industry the art of the possible,” she said. “With each new release, they get closer to this idea of a one-shot software engineering team.”
The round also included strategic investments from Accenture Ventures, Databricks Ventures, Okta Ventures, and Tether, as well as some of the most creative individuals on the planet like Shaquille O’Neal and Jared Leto.
“Replit is rapidly expanding who gets to build in the AI era,” said Ali Ghodsi, co-founder and CEO of Databricks. “By integrating with Lakebase and Databricks Apps, we’re combining Replit’s capabilities with trusted enterprise data and governance, helping teams move from idea to production faster and more securely than ever. We’re excited to support Replit’s next phase of growth.”
