Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced a strategic joint venture with Meta Platforms Inc. to develop and deploy enterprise-grade AI products in India and select global markets.

The new entity — Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL) — will see Reliance hold a 70 % stake and Meta’s Facebook Overseas owning 30 %, with an initial investment of ₹855 crore.

REIL will leverage Meta’s open-source Llama AI models and power them via Reliance’s robust digital infrastructure. The venture aims to launch two primary offerings: a full-stack Enterprise AI Platform-as-a-Service and a suite of pre-configured AI applications tailored for key enterprise functions such as sales, marketing, customer service, IT operations and finance.

“At Meta we’re excited to deepen our partnership with Reliance to bring the power of open-source AI to Indian developers and enterprises,” said Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta.

Meanwhile, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani described the deal as a landmark step toward making advanced AI accessible across Indian enterprises.

Deployments will support cloud, on-premises and hybrid infrastructures, offering flexibility and cost-efficiencies for organisations of all sizes. The JV formation comes amid India’s broader push for “Made-in-India” digital solutions and increased focus on AI adoption in the enterprise sector.
