PhysicsWallah Unveils AI Math Model that Scores 90% in JEE
The model is built specifically for Indian learners and tailored to tackle competitive exams like JEE Main.

PhysicsWallah, one of India’s leading edtech platforms, has unveiled Aryabhata 1.0, a compact AI model designed to boost math education in the age of artificial intelligence. Named after the legendary Indian mathematician Aryabhata, the Small Language Model (SLM) is built specifically for Indian learners and tailored to tackle competitive exams like JEE Main with exceptional precision.
Despite its modest 7B parameter size, Aryabhata 1.0 has achieved remarkable results—scoring 86% in JEE Main Mathematics (January session) and 90.2% in the April session.
What sets it apart is its efficiency, having been trained on a single H100 GPU using 130K curated Q&A pairs and enhanced with advanced fine-tuning techniques like SFT, RL, and Rejection Sampling.
"We're working to expand Aryabhata 1.0 to cover JEE Advanced and a broader range of mathematical domains. We’d love for educators, researchers, and developers to explore the model, put it to the test, and share their feedback,” Prateek Maheshwari, co-founder at PhysicsWallah, said in a LinkedIn post.
Available on Hugging Face, the model has demonstrated exceptional performance in real-world exam settings, scoring an impressive 86% in the JEE Mains January 2025 session and 90.2% in the April session.
