Perplexity Makes Comet Browser Available Worldwide — Free for All Users
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas framed the move as part of a mission to make a better internet accessible to everyone.

Perplexity has opened access to its AI-powered browser Comet, making it freely available to users across the globe. Originally launched in July 2025 exclusively for Perplexity Max subscribers, the browser now serves Free, Pro, and Max tiers without cost.

Comet integrates Perplexity’s AI search tools directly into the browsing experience, effectively “traveling the web with” users rather than acting as an add-on. The browser supports tasks like summarisation, personalised browsing, automation, and conversational interactions — easing everyday workflows from research to booking and product comparisons.
To preserve content quality and support publishers, Perplexity also revealed Comet Plus, a $5 subscription that unlocks curated news features. While the core browser is now free, Comet Plus is designed to provide enhanced access to trusted journalism and content.
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas framed the move as part of a mission to make a better internet accessible to everyone, describing Comet as a permanent free offering for users.
The shift marks a strategic pivot: positioning Comet as a challenger to dominant browsers by delivering deep AI integration and utility at no cost. For now, this makes Comet a much more accessible alternative to legacy browsers — with AI assistance built in.
