Outpaced by AI’s Image Boom, Bengaluru-Based NeuroPixel.AI Startup Calls It Quits
NeuroPixel.AI offered tools such as virtual try-ons, synthetic model generation, and automated cataloguing for the e-commerce industry.
Bengaluru-based startup NeuroPixel.AI has shut down its operations after nearly six years, according to a LinkedIn post by cofounder and CEO Arvind Venugopal Nair.
"Our product didn’t hold up against the capabilities of powerful image generation models like NanoBanana Pro by Google," he posted.
Founded in 2020 by Nair and Amritendu Mukherjee, NeuroPixel.AI focused on AI-driven solutions for fashion ecommerce, offering tools such as virtual try-ons, synthetic model generation, and automated cataloguing.
Despite building cost-efficient technology that delivered competitive output quality, the startup struggled to scale due to distribution challenges.
"While I think we got the broader thesis right (Gen-AI for Fashion) way back in 2021, we got massively outgunned overnight sometime in late 2025. By that point, we had spent nearly 4 years building deep IP with a small team, thinking that our competition would be other startups," Nair said.
Financial strain also mounted after the loss of a major client, with payments reportedly delayed for over six months.
NeuroPixel.AI had worked with leading brands including Myntra, Fabindia, Van Heusen, and Decathlon.
While the company plans to explore monetisation opportunities for its technology stack, its core service operations are being discontinued.
The startup had raised approximately $1.2 million from investors such as Flipkart Ventures and Inflection Point Ventures.
The shutdown adds to a growing list of startup closures in early 2026, reflecting ongoing pressures in the funding and competitive landscape.
