[Oracle](https://www.theleftshift.com/oracle-introduces-mcp-server-in-sqlcl-to-supercharge-ai-asks-to-db-workflows/) has announced the [general availability](https://blogs.oracle.com/database/post/ga-announcement-distributed-exadb-xs?ref=theleftshift.com) of its *Globally Distributed Exadata Database on Exascale Infrastructure*, a next-generation service aimed at simplifying the deployment of mission-critical, globally distributed applications across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

The new service is designed to automatically distribute, store, and synchronise data across [OCI regions](https://www.theleftshift.com/oracle-lands-30-bn-annual-cloud-contract/), enabling continuous uptime—even during regional outages—while helping businesses meet local data residency requirements. Its serverless architecture can dynamically scale with demand, making it suitable for workloads like real-time analytics, high-volume transactions, and agentic AI applications.

> “Providing exceptional customer satisfaction is important to PayPal, so we’ve been using Oracle Exadata for many years to provide lightning-fast response times and mission-critical availability,” said [Akash Guha](https://www.linkedin.com/in/akguha/?ref=theleftshift.com), director of database engineering, PayPal. “We look forward to using Oracle Globally Distributed Exadata Database on Exascale Infrastructure’s always-on, serverless architecture with built-in Raft replication to accelerate responses, enable greater application resilience, and lower costs.”

The platform supports high-performance use cases, including vector search for AI workloads, hyperscale OLTP, and real-time streaming analytics.

> “Oracle Globally Distributed Exadata Database on Exascale Infrastructure’s serverless architecture enables customers of all sizes to meet their diverse requirements at a low cost,” said [Wei Hu](https://www.linkedin.com/in/wei-hu-abb736/?ref=theleftshift.com), SVP of High Availability Technologies at Oracle.

With built-in Raft replication, elastic scalability, and support for full Oracle SQL, the platform offers a unified global database experience without the complexity of traditional distributed systems.
