Nscale Global Holdings Raises $2 Bn to Expand AI Data Centre Network
The company has announced facilities across the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, Iceland and Portugal, with additional expansion planned.
Nscale Global Holdings, a London-based data centre startup focused on artificial intelligence infrastructure, has raised $2 billion in Series C funding, pushing its valuation to $14.6 billion, more than double its valuation last September.
The funding round was jointly led by Aker ASA and 8090 Industries, with participation from major technology companies including Nvidia, Dell Technologies and Nokia.
Founded less than two years ago, Nscale is building a global network of data centres designed specifically to run large-scale AI workloads. The company has announced facilities across the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, Iceland and Portugal, with additional expansion planned.
One of its major projects is Stargate Norway, a large AI data centre being developed for OpenAI. The facility is expected to house 100,000 GPUs by the end of the year and deliver about 230 megawatts of initial computing capacity.
Nscale is also working with Microsoft on a major infrastructure partnership that will deploy 200,000 of Nvidia’s GB300 AI accelerators across its data centres in Texas, the UK and Portugal.
The company is incorporating advanced cooling technologies into its facilities. Its Portugal site uses seawater cooling, while the Texas data centre relies on a closed-loop liquid cooling system designed to reduce freshwater consumption.
Nscale said the new funding will support further infrastructure expansion across North America and Europe and help the company enter Asian markets as demand for AI computing capacity continues to surge globally.
