# Microsoft’s New AI Tool Targets the Pain of Moving Off Salesforce

Microsoft is introducing [Dynamics 365 Activate](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/dynamics-365-activate/dynamics-365-activate-overview?ref=theleftshift.com), an AI-powered tool designed to accelerate the migration of business applications to Dynamics 365, initially targeting organisations moving from [Salesforce](https://www.theleftshift.com/salesforces-mandatory-passkey-rollout-sparks-admin-backlash-over-login-disruptions-and-surprise-enforcement/).

The tool, now entering public preview, uses AI agents to analyse existing Salesforce environments, map data and business processes, identify customisations and dependencies, and automate parts of the migration process. Microsoft said the technology is designed to reduce manual work and migration risk for customers and implementation partners.

Activate is built using insights from hundreds of recent Dynamics 365 migrations. In early customer implementations, the tool has already profiled more than six billion data records, according to Microsoft.

Rather than beginning with a broad set of migration scenarios, Microsoft is initially focusing Activate on Salesforce-to-Dynamics 365 transitions. Support for other customer relationship management (CRM) platforms and enterprise resource planning (ERP) migration scenarios is planned for later.

The tool analyses an organisation’s existing environment and helps identify which data, processes and customisations should be retained, simplified or redesigned. It can then generate configurations and execute parts of the migration in a Microsoft-hosted environment, with safeguards built into the process.

[Microsoft](https://www.theleftshift.com/microsoft-opens-fourth-india-cloud-region-as-ai-infrastructure-demand-grows/) said the approach could allow implementation partners to spend less time on discovery and assessment, traditionally one of the more labor-intensive stages of enterprise software migrations.

 The company ultimately plans to support three migration scenarios with Activate– organisations starting new Dynamics 365 deployments, customers migrating from an existing application, and existing Dynamics 365 customers expanding into new applications, regions or business units.

Microsoft’s roadmap includes agentic application mapping, test sampling, natural-language migration guidance and executive summaries. ERP migration capabilities are expected later this year.
