Matters.AI Raises ₹55 Crore to Build the World’s First ‘AI Security Engineer’
The funds will help accelerate R&D in predictive detection and expand operations in India and the US.
Data security startup Matters.AI has raised ₹55 crore to pioneer a new category of system called the AI Security Engineer — a self-learning system that predicts, prevents, and autonomously responds to data threats across Cloud, SaaS, Endpoints, and On-Prem environments.
Matters.AI’s platform combines real-time data tracing, data lineage mapping, GenAI governance across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot, and native integrations with Zoho, Snowflake, Salesforce, AWS, Azure, GCP, and Databricks.
The funds will help accelerate R&D in predictive detection, expand operations in India and the US, and strengthen teams supporting regulated industries under the DPDP framework.
“India has built rockets, payments, and software for the world, now we’re building to protect it,” said Keshava Murthy, CEO & Co-Founder. “The world doesn’t need another dashboard screaming alerts; it needs a system that can think. That’s Matters.AI, the AI Security Engineer that never sleeps.”
As privacy regulations tighten and AI adoption accelerates, Matters.AI is positioning itself as the control layer for intelligent, autonomous data protection, built in Bharat and trusted globally.
“Our system reasons like a human engineer, learning from how people and data interact, predicting misuse, and responding autonomously,” added Harsh Sahu, CTO & Co-Founder.
The ₹42 crore seed round was co-led by Kalaari Capital and Endiya Partners, with participation from Better Capital, Carya Venture Partners, and prominent cybersecurity angels. The earlier ₹13 crore pre-seed round was led by Better Capital and Carya Venture Partners.
“Matters unifies discovery, lineage, and intent-aware controls into one policy plane so organisations can prevent data exfiltration while cutting alert noise,” Sateesh Andra, Managing Director at Endiya Partners, said.
