MakeMyTrip has unveiled a new AI-powered feature, Seat Availability Forecast, to help Indian rail travelers better plan ticket bookings amid high demand and unpredictable availability.

MakeMyTrip's data reveals nearly 40% of users make bookings across multiple sessions—and 70% of these end up with waitlisted tickets due to lack of confirmed availability.
Demand patterns have been shifting rapidly. In April, high-speed trains were sold out 13 days ahead, while in May, bookings closed more than 20 days in advance, the company said. This unpredictability often leaves travelers guessing.

Seat Availability Forecast is a result of that effort, rooted in data science, built to be seamless, and designed to solve a real planning challenge,” Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, said.
The company also launched Sold-out Alerts, notifying users when seat availability drops below a set threshold, ensuring timely bookings.
