# Lam Research Plans ₹10,000 Crore India Investment to Build Silicon Manufacturing Facility

Lam Research plans to invest approximately ₹10,000 crore in India over the next several years as the semiconductor equipment maker expands its manufacturing and research and development operations in the country.

The company announced the investment plans ahead of SEMICON India 2026, with the proposed investment supporting Lam’s first silicon component manufacturing facility in India.

The facility is expected to focus on silicon ingot production and processing for advanced semiconductor technologies and leading-edge nodes.

Lam Research said the expansion will strengthen its global operations and help it support customers as semiconductor designs become increasingly complex. The company, however, noted that the investment plans remain subject to execution and other risks.

The company has been part of India’s semiconductor ecosystem for more than 25 years. Its existing presence includes an engineering hub and a chip research and development laboratory, while India has also become part of the company’s global supply chain.

The company plans to expand its R&D operations through its India Center for Engineering, which works with global customers on design, testing, validation and next-generation technology development.
